Previously, low levels of Coliforms were detected. Coliforms are very common in the environment.

We have returned to the Water Quality Advisory, which is in place for those with health issues. These individuals may still want to boil their water before consumption.

The Advisory will stay in place until the UV Treatment system is fully functional. We are making good progress with increasing UV levels and they are close to requirements, however this is unlikely to be fully resolved until the Ion Exchange media has been replaced. The media replacement is a complicated and costly process; we are bringing in an expert for assistance.

Van Anda Improvement District still has a BOIL WATER NOTICE in effect.

This is to advise that the Environmental Health Officer has issued a boil water notice to all residents within the Van Anda Improvement District. The water is presently considered unfit for drinking or domestic use and should be boiled for one minute prior to consumption.

All residents are requested to notify their immediate neighbours who may be unaware of the boil water advisory.

Of the samples taken Sep 17, 2 had low levels of Coliform bacteria (Earl St and Marble Bay Rd/Van Anda Ave), and one had something growing that was neither Coliforms or E. Coli (end of Wall St).

Any questions may be directed to the Administrator at contact@vananda-id.ca or phone 604-486-7035. More information is available at vananda-id.ca/water-quality-notices/

Boil Water Notices are usually in place for at least two weeks, even when the problem has been resolved, as two consecutive sets of water samples must pass off-site VCH testing before the notice can be lifted.
