The Van Anda Improvement District has issued a WATER QUALITY ADVISORY
The Environmental Health Officer has recommended a water quality advisory within the Van Anda Improvement District. Please note, this is not a Boil Water Notice.
Those with health concerns may wish to follow the guidelines of the Boil Water Notice, which states that water should be boiled for two minutes prior to consumption.
All residents are requested to notify their immediate neighbours who may be unaware of the water quality advisory, especially those with health concerns.

Attention Residents:
There will be a partial water outage affecting the following area(s):
Date: (correction)Thursday January 15th, 2026
Time: (correction) 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM (approx. 3 hours)
This outage is necessary to perform the installation of new connections to the water main to facilitate water meters.
There may be temporary, harmless discolouration of the water.
Water service should resume promptly after the work is completed.
Please plan accordingly and have sufficient water on hand for essential needs.
We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
Columbia St. will be closed to all traffic between Van Anda Avenue and Smelter Avenue starting Wednesday morning January 14th., 2026
The work is expected to be completed by Wednesday afternoon, but the closure may extend into Thursday morning, January 15th., 2026 if required.

Annual Invoices
Water Tolls and Parcel Tax invoices for 2026 will be mailed out in early January. If you do not receive your invoice by mid-January, please contact us so we can ensure your account is up to date.
Annual newsletters for both Water and the Fire Department will be included with your invoice.
2026 Rate Increase
We’re committed to keeping water service safe, reliable, and transparent. For 2026 the average household is seeing around a 13% increase. Key drivers include higher costs for treatment plant parts, cartridge filters, and labor, plus adjustments to ensure leak-related costs are shared more fairly across all customer categories.

Meter Project Updates
More meters have been installed, and the new Copper Queen line installation is complete.
All costs for this project are covered by Provincial Government funding.
