Wildfire season is starting earlier than expected across British Columbia, and officials are urging everyone to stay alert. πŸ”₯🌲 Several fires have already ignited across the region, raising concerns as conditions continue to dry out.

At the moment, there are **19 active wildfires**, with a number of them already out of control. Most of these fires are believed to be **human-caused**, making awareness and responsible behavior more important than ever. 🚨

Dry weather and rising temperatures are increasing the wildfire risk, especially in **coastal areas** where strong winds are helping flames spread more quickly. While there are **no widespread fire bans yet**, authorities are strongly advising the public to take extra precautions this weekend.

### ⚠️ Key Points:

* πŸ”₯ 19 active wildfires currently burning across B.C.
* 🚫 Several fires already out of control
* πŸ‘€ Majority caused by human activity
* 🌑️ Dry and warm conditions increasing risk

* ⚠️ No full bans yet, but caution is strongly advised

Developing the evening of April 23 and into the weekend, the coast will experience an early spring outflow pattern and light to moderate winds, which are expected to lower relative humidity significantly.
According to a media release from the Coastal Fire Centre outflow conditions occur when drier air flows out from the mountains via fjords and valleys toward the water. The Coastal Fire Centre covers the qathet region, the Lower Mainland, Sea-to-Sky corridor, Vancouver Island, the Central Coast and Haida Gwaii.
β€œThe Coastal Fire Centre would like to alert our industry partners, along with the public, that the potential for wildfires to ignite from industrial activities and open fires will be elevated during this time,” the release stated. β€œWhile there are no open fire prohibitions within the Coastal Fire Centre's jurisdiction at this time, we strongly suggest caution with any open fire during this period of elevated risk.”
If lighting a fire within any local government jurisdiction, those lighting the fire must follow any bylaws or restrictions that are in place, the release stated.
