Annual Fire Restrictions
To protect our community and reduce wildfire risk, Van Anda Improvement District enforces strict annual fire restrictions under the Fire Regulations Bylaw. Each year, a seasonal burning ban is in effect from May 15th to October 15th. During this period, backyard burning, debris clearing, and incinerator use (burning barrels) are strictly prohibited anywhere in the District.
Small campfires are permitted during this time unless there is a provincial campfire ban in place.
When campfires are permitted, they must follow provincial regulations, including the maximum size limit of 18 inches by 18 inches (45 cm x 45 cm), and must never be left unattended.
In cases of high wildfire threat, a temporary Total Burning Ban will be implemented, which overrides this exception and bans campfires completely.
Compliance and Penalties
All residents and property owners are required to comply with these restrictions. Unauthorized burning or violation of fire regulations may result in penalties under the Offence Act, with each day of non-compliance considered a separate violation.
