The Water Quality Advisory still in effect, due to partial UVT and high turbidity.
The most recent VCH testing (Aug 6) had one sample from Van Anda that detected Coliforms so a Boil Water Notice is now in effect. Tap water should be boiled for one minute. Use any clean pot or kettle. Kettles that have automatic shut offs are acceptable. More information is available on the page vananda-id.ca/water-quality-notices/
Notices will be posted around the community.
We are experiencing problems with the chlorination process and recommend boiling water before use as chlorine content is below the recommended amount. VCH samples will be taken to determine if a Boil Water Notice is needed.
VCH samples passed the tests. Water Quality Advisory still in effect.
The road at Columbia/Midas will be closed from 8 am to 5 pm on Friday Jul 19. Work planned is installation of waterline conduit under the road. Water services should not be affected at this time.
The area of work is on the main road used going uphill from the store towards Wall St/Imperial Quarry/High Rd.
Detour via Copper Queen/Aladdin (see image).
Although the chlorinator is now working properly and chlorine levels are within range, VCH requires samples that pass their tests before we can lift the Advisory. Samples will be taken tomorrow so we should have the all clear this weekend.
Effective immediately – Sat Jul 13 9 pm
Van Anda Water System has had a temporary chlorination failure and chlorine levels in the tank are lower than recommended. The problem has been fixed and chlorine levels are expected to be back in the correct range by tomorrow morning. Please help spread the message and notify your neighbors.
Annual water restrictions are in effect. There are 4 stages of water restrictions – more info can be found on the page Water Conservation Bylaw and Water Restrictions.
MOTI Texada Drainage Report (2024)
Parsons was retained by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) of British Columbia to undertake engineering services for a drainage study on Texada Island. The purpose of the study was to assess the condition and vulnerability of six priority areas, which cover culvert crossings along major traveling routes.
The primary objectives of the study were as follows:
In addition to the six priority sites, major arterial roads were included as part of the field condition assessments for major culvert crossings.
This document summarizes the project background, the field assessment, hydrologic and hydraulic assessment, proposed drainage improvement recommendations and cost estimate.
No restrictions on drip irrigation.
Please contact us of you are aware of excess water usage so we can address the issue. Thanks!
