Open Burning Ban & Water Restrictions

Van Anda’s annual open burning ban is in effect from May 15 until October 15. Burning barrels included.

Stage 2 Water Restrictions are in effect.

  • Watering is limited to one hour per area and to be done only in the early morning or evening.
  • Lawn watering allowed only once a week, one hour per area, early morning or evening.
  • Washing a vehicle or boat allowed only between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm
  • Filling or adding water to a swimming pool, hot tub, garden pond or decorative fountain only between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Please contact us if you have a swimming pool – this year we are scheduling filling to avoid maxing out water production capacity (happens at the beginning of every summer).
  • Washing outside surfaces like walk/driveways, exterior windows or building surface for a maximum of two hours, at any time of day.
  • More details….

No restrictions on drip irrigation.

Please contact us of you are aware of excess water usage so we can address the issue. Thanks!

STAGE 3 WATER RESTRICTIONS ARE NOW IN EFFECT

STAGE 3 WATER RESTRICTIONS ARE NOW IN EFFECT

VAN ANDA IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT WATER CONSERVATION BYLAW

Water hoses must be equipped with a handheld automatic shut-off nozzle.

STAGE 3 Restrictions:

  • NO LAWN WATERING
  • OTHER WATERING – hand watering and sprinklers for trees, shrubs, flowers, & vegetables – max one hour, only between 8 pm and 8 am
  • NO VEHICLE & BOAT WASHING
  • NO OUTSIDE SURFACE WASHING
  • NO FILLING POOLS

Use of micro-irrigation or drip irrigation systems to water trees, shrubs, flowers, and vegetables is allowed on any day, at any time, as required

More information is available on the Water Conservation Bylaw page.

Due to high water use, Stage 3 Restrictions are now in place. Water production is nearing the maximum daily capacity of the Water Treatment Plant. Please decrease water usage as much as possible to ensure we have sufficient water in the storage tank for fire protection.

Our water source, Priest Lake, has lots of water; it’s our ability to treat sufficient water for fire protection and consumption that is an issue.

Leak detection is continuing. Please contact us if you are aware of any signs of leaks (wet areas, lush growth, or sound of water running), or have concerns about how water is being used.
