Fire Restrictions
May 15 – Oct 15

Includes burn barrels.
Annual Fire Restrictions
To protect our community and reduce wildfire risk, Van Anda Improvement District enforces strict annual fire restrictions under the Fire Regulations Bylaw. Each year, an Open Air Burning Ban is in effect from May 15th to October 15th. During this period, no open air fires, backyard burning, or incinerator use (burning barrels) are permitted anywhere in the District.
Campfires are regulated separately and may be banned at any time by the Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations, depending on conditions. Always check for current campfire bans before lighting any fire.
When extremely dry conditions exist and the threat of wildfire is high, a Total Burning Ban may be implemented, which includes campfires.
Compliance and Penalties
All residents and property owners are required to comply with these restrictions. Unauthorized burning or violation of fire regulations may result in penalties under the Offence Act, with each day of non-compliance considered a separate violation.
For full details, permitted activities, and definitions, please refer to the Fire Regulations Bylaw.
