Planned Water Outage – Trailer Park & Duker Rd

There is a planned water outage for the Van Anda Trailer Park and Duker Rd on Tuesday April 19. The outage is expected to be less than one hour.

This outage is part of work being done on the mains by the water storage tank.

All residents of Van Anda are requested to minimize their water usage from Tuesday to Thursday this coming week, April 19-21.

Our Annual General Meeting will be at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 232 on Legion Rd in Van Anda on Saturday April 9, starting at 10 am.

We have one 3-year trustee term available for election. After nominations, candidates will be requested to give a brief statement and elections will follow.

Discussion will include Parcel Assessment method and Residential Metering.

Audited financial statements will be available to view prior to the AGM at the VAID office and on our website.

Due to a new substantial leak above Smelter, water will be turned off at the main by the Wharf at 1 pm. Anyone East of this point will be without water until the leak is repaired. If you are affected by this outage, we recommend turning off power to your hot water tank and ensuring all faucets are closed. When water is back on, open faucets and run water until flow is smooth and clear.

Our water operators are on the job and estimate that water should be back on by 4 pm.

UPDATE 5.40 pm – the leak location was not found today and work will continue tomorrow. Water is back on but there will be an outage tomorrow.

Test results from water samples taken Mar 2 are back and show the water is clean. The advisory was put in place as a precautionary measure after fire fighting on the night of Feb 28/Mar 1, when there was a high volume of water moving through the system.

Up to 9 residences in this area will have a water outage today, Tues March 1st, as repairs are made to a leak. Apologies for the short notice; this is a situation that was already scheduled for repair but due to sudden worsening, must be dealt with today.

Water shut off will be around noon and continue for approx 3 hours. Please shut off power to your hot water tank and ensure all faucets are closed.

When the water is back on, open faucets fully until the water runs smoothly and any residue is gone.

Water Outage Smelter & Blewett

Due to a major leak in the water main on Smelter, water has been turned off at the main by the Wharf. Anyone East of this point will be without water until the main is repaired. If you are affected by this outage, we recommend turning off power to your hot water tank and ensuring all faucets are closed.

Our water operators are on the job and we will keep you updated. An estimated time for the outage will be provided when we have more information on the cause of the leak and the repairs needed.

UPDATE: the repair was completed by 3.30 pm, thanks to the speedy response of our crew including contractor Al Davis. We suspect this had been an ongoing substantial leak and hope to see a reduction of pump hours now its fixed.
